Why is billing being handled through Expert Institute?
Expert Institute manages billing on some cases to streamline the payment process for our clients. Many of our attorney clients, particularly those working with insurance carriers, prefer a unified billing model where all fees are consolidated into a single rate. This approach ensures a more seamless and cohesive billing process.
When am I considered retained for a case?
Retention is formalized once both the expert and the attorney-client have executed separate retainer agreements with Expert Institute. Prior to engaging with our contract team, experts have the opportunity to speak directly with the attorney, gain a deeper understanding of the case, and determine if they wish to proceed.
When can I expect payment?
Expert Institute secures payment from our attorney-client before the expert begins work on a case. This payment is structured as a replenishable retainer, typically covering around 10 hours of work. While our standard turnaround time for payment is 3.5 weeks, the exact timing is contingent upon the receipt of funds from the attorney-client.
I have my own retainer agreement, will Expert Institue sign that?
Expert Institute can sign independent contracts, provided it aligns with Expert Institute’s existing terms. Our goal is to collaborate and arrive at a mutually agreeable arrangement.
How often should I be invoicing the Expert Institute?
Expert Institute operates on a replenishable retainer basis. Therefore, experts are required to submit an invoice when the attorney requests additional work beyond what the initial retainer payment covers and, at a minimum, every 30 days.
