Conference Call FAQs

Are conference calls compensated?

Conference calls are not compensated. We provide both parties with a 15-minute complimentary call prior to retention to ensure it is a mutual fit before moving forward. This is meant to be a business development tool for you. Our goal is for you to be retained on several successful cases, so that these initial calls become inconsequential, even if there are occasional cases that don’t work out. We get many cases within each specialty, so we can confidently assure you that if you go through our process you will be retained.

What if I am asked to review records prior to retention?

Attorneys may occasionally request experts to review records prior to retention to provide a better understanding of the case and ensure a productive conversation during the conference call. The attorneys understand this is not a typical request as these calls are not compensated. Therefore, you are not required to review any documents prior to retention.

What if no one is on the call?

If no one is on the call, please contact your EI representative immediately and we will take action accordingly. You should allow a 5-minute window for all parties to log on. If your wait time exceeds 5 minutes, you may log off and coordinate with your EI representative to reschedule the call.

What if the call runs long?

We hope these 15-minute complimentary calls are productive and enjoyable for you and the attorney; however, we understand that the calls may exceed the 15-minute timeframe. If this occurs and an EI representative is present, they will remind both parties of the time and encourage them to wrap up final thoughts and questions. If an EI representative is not present, we encourage you to remind the attorney of your time and/or mention that you would be happy to speak further and provide additional information once retained.

What if I can’t connect via video?

You may join the call via phone by dialing the number provided in the confirmation email and calendar invite. You will be prompted to enter the meeting ID which is also provided in the confirmation email and calendar invite. Once you have done so, you will be automatically transferred into the call.

Why am I seeing different times on my confirmation email?

All times in Expert iQ will automatically coordinate with your timezone. Confirmation emails that you receive are based on Eastern Standard Time and will display the timezone next to the time of the call. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact your EI representative and we would be happy to confirm the time with you.
